The corporate group was established in 1976 with the commencement of Western Avionics, which has become one of Canadas largest Avionics support facilities.

In 1996 Amvax Group Inc. was established through the creation of the Transport Canada, EASA, JAA, and FAA approved Heavy Maintenance Centre (HMC). The HMC provides full major repair and overhaul service capabilities for regional airline and operators.

In early 2003, Avmax Group Inc.developed a fourth division. Avmax Aircraft Leasing which is dedicated to providing aircraft for sale or lease to customers on a timely and cost-effective basis.

In the summer of 2003, the corporate group expanded to include regional airline operations through its affiliated company, Regional 1 Airlines. Regional 1 provides "no hassle, all hustle" charter and ACMI services nationally and internationally.

April 2006 saw Avmax's managed expansion continue with the opening of a second heavy maintenance center in Great Falls, Montana. Avmax Montana Inc. is a Part 145 Repair Station focusing on all makes and models  of turbo prop and regional aircraft. The latest addition to our long list of capabilities occurred in February 2008, with Avmax Montana adding paint and interior refurbishment capabilities for an even wider range of services to our many national and international customers.

The Avmax Group has grown to become a world-renowned maintenance and aviation support organization and has exceeded all expectations of tthe industry. We continue to build our business by maintaining close relationships with our customers, by discussing their needs and providing as many support options as possible.
